Preprofessional Performance Opportunities
Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company invites advanced dancers ages 16+ to work with our second company, CoMo II, in technique classes & rehearsals. A preprofessional position with CoMo Dance is the perfect supplement to traditional studio training and a way to get a head start on college-level modern dance experience. CoMo Preprofessionals are provided with opportunities to learn choreography from local and national guest artists. Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company seeks unpaid interns to work with the company in evening rehearsals or remotely during the week. Interns will be provided with technique class & rehearsals and will dance alongside our second company, CoMo II. Based on career plans, CoMo Interns will be given a relevant project to aid in their professional development. This is the perfect opportunity for current college students (or high school seniors seeking direction for their college decision). Application Open: Emerging Choreographer Residency
What: Opportunity to reset your choreography on the Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company. If selected, your work would be performed at one of the company's upcoming performances at the Abbey Theatre of Dublin.
Selection Process: All video submissions will be reviewed by our adjudication panel: Company Artistic Director, Laura Puscas; Board President, Kelsey Morozow; and CoMo II Director, Caroline Martin. One emerging choreographer will be selected if the work is a good fit with our company dynamic.
When: A series of three 1.5 hour weeknight rehearsals or two 2-hour weekend rehearsals to reset your choreography. You should be prepared to reset the full work within approximately 3-8 hours of rehearsal. Please plan to provide lighting direction and costume ideas. Weekly company rehearsals are weekday evenings after 8:30pm at Dublin Dance Center & Gymnastics. We can work with your schedule & the company schedule to find a weekend or weeknight to rehearse at DDC or downtown at the Galbreath Pavilion.
Stipend: A $100 stipend will be awarded to the selected choreographer. If you are selected as CoMo's Emerging Choreographer, you will also be awarded 2 comp tickets to the performance to view your work.

Choreography should be 3-10 minutes in length, though works outside this range will still be considered. Cast size can be variable in the video, but the piece should be able to be performed with 1-12 female professional dancers. Genre should be modern/contemporary dance or a complementary style.
Include a headshot & dance resume.
If you don't have a resume, now is a great time to create one! Or, we will also accept a playbill biography paragraph explaining your dance experience.
Eligible applicants should be current undergraduate or graduate college students (or trained dancers of equivalent age/experience level).
Please list your current year in school, major/minor, and educational institution. If you are not a student, please include a sentence about why you consider yourself an "emerging" artist.
