2018-2019 Season Auditions

Auditions were held on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Contact us to schedule an audition during any company rehearsal.

The Columbus Modern (CoMo) Dance Company's sixth season runs from March 2018–February 2019. Select company dancers will be paid a small performance stipend for various concerts and gigs throughout the year. Weekly paid teaching opportunities are also available to company dancers. CoMo Dance is made up of part-time professional dancers who also have careers in other fields.

CoMo Dance Company produces an average of four full-length productions annually and performs at many other community events. Dancers are provided with company technique classes, admission to all CoMo community modern technique classes, opportunities to choreograph, and participation in guest artist residencies. CoMo works with regional and national guest artists to commission works on the Company. Read about guest artists from our first five seasons.

The Columbus Modern Dance Company currently rehearses on evenings and occasional weekends. The commitment for professional Company Dancers is typically 3 hours of rehearsal per week. Our main company rehearses Tuesday & Wednesday from 8:30-10pm. Our second company, CoMo II, rehearses Thursdays from 8:30-10pm. 1-1.5 hr technique classes are offered some weeks. For intensive weekend guest artist residencies, dancers participate in ~8 hours of rehearsal on Sat & Sundays. Additional rehearsals may be added near performance times.

CoMo Dancers come from around the United States. Our performers hold degrees in dance from universities such as Agnes Scott College, University of Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s College, The Ohio State University, Miami University of Ohio, University of Nevada Las Vegas, and Case Western.

Apprentice positions are also available by audition to offer dancers continued training and performance opportunities. Summer internship opportunities are also available. High school students are invited to audition for our preprofessional opportunities.
